Art lovers, collectors and enthusiasts get ready because the fourth edition of Art Southampton is here and the 2015 edition has a lot to offer. The annual art happening will be held at a new location this year, Nova’s Ark in Bridgehampton. The fair’s goal is to bring people together with art and to give back to the community by benefiting local non-profit organizations like the Parrish Art Museum and the Southampton Hospital.
“The fair is about connecting people to the galleries and the people that are represented, but it is also about giving back to the community,” said Nick Korniloff, Director and Partner of Art Miami, LLC. “This fair has grown based upon the needs and the wants of the East End community.”
The attendance is expected to be higher than last year, due to its new central location. 2014 attracted close to 21,000 attendees. “People really have gravitated towards this show” noted Korniloff. “It’s become a ‘can’t miss’ cultural and social event of the East End.”
Art Southampton, which is presented by Art Miami, will kickoff on Thursday, July 9th with a Platinum Preview and will run through Monday, July 13th. According to Korniloff, this event is different than any other fair out there. He explained that the event running till Monday benefits people who have busy schedules over the weekend. He also said the fair attracts collectors who visit on their way into the City on Monday.
Some of the attractions this year include galleries by international artists, including those from the UK, Germany, France, Korea and Venezuela, to name a few. Art Southampton will also offer Art Symposiums sponsored by Art Southampton and One Art Nation. These symposiums bring together experts to discuss topics like contemporary art market predictions and trends and merging art and technology.
2015 will have a special focus on artists and galleries from the East End. “Not only do we have all of these galleries coming in from different countries, but we have the highest concentration of East End galleries,” shared Korniloff.
He told Hamptons.com the scene for this year’s fair is very diversified. There will be the classic styles, but there will also be art video new media. Programming will take inspiration from human’s captivation with technology and how today artists will use art platforms that are constantly changing, such as video media, to display their art and how this is interesting to collectors. “It’s really a movement that is tied into so many different types of disciplines that involve the art,” he said. “It is a new form of expressing yourself and it’s also one that is pretty captivating.”
