Hybrid PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 31 To Return To Water Mill-Based Museum

The Parrish Art Museum’s latest PechaKucha will be offered both in-person at the Museum’s Lichtenstein Theater and virtually.

“I’m thrilled that the Parrish Art Museum continues to provide this great public platform for creative people on the East End to share their passions,” said Jennifer Duque, Head of Museum Experiences.

PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 31 will be held on Friday, November 20 at 6:00 p.m. The iteration will encompass presentations from Irina Alimanestianu, Sarah Cohen, Jody Cukier, Tria Giovan and John Madere. During the rapid-fire lectures, each presenter will have 6 minutes and 40 seconds to cover 20 slides, equating to about 20 seconds per topic.

Alimanestianu, a fine artist and painter, grew up in New York, Switzerland, and France. She currently splits her time between New York and Los Angeles. Her work has been highlighted in several exhibitions in Los Angeles and New York.

abstract paintings are a sensory reading of the environment, its past and present, and its vibrational tones that surround and compel her. The artist was raised in New York, Switzerland, and France, and spent a substantial portion of her adult life between New York and Venice, California.

Cohen lives and works on the East End. In 2017, the physical therapist launched the Center for Parkinson’s Disease at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital.

Cukier utilizes seashells and marine-life fragments to create sculptures and abstract assemblies and then documents the creations to produce archival pigment prints.

Giovan, a New York-based photographer, examines a plethora of topics – such as long term projects on New York’s Lower East Side, the Virgin Islands, Rhode Island, Cuba, Sagaponack, and even her own Sag Harbor backyard.

Grosvenor, who lives and works in Sagaponack, has exhibited at the Hawaii International Film Festival, Millennium Film Archive, Anthropology Film Archives, and It Doesn’t Not Work.

Madere is drawn to compelling human moments and has documented subjects from over 50 countries through his award-winning photography – which has been lauded by The Art Directors Club, the AR 100 Show, The Mead Show, The ARC Awards, Graphis, and American Photography.

There will be limited socially distanced seating at PechaKucha Night Hamptons, Vol. 31, which will also be streamed online. Registration is required. Tickets are $20 and $10 for Parrish Members. There is no fee to live-steam, however donations are welcome.
