The Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) is presenting several free screenings this summer in Montauk. Taking place at Gurney’s Montauk (290 Old Montauk Highway, Montauk) and The Surf Lodge (183 Edgemere Street, Montauk), the programming is part of the Festival’s 25 Years: 25 Films series, which is commemorating HIFF’s Silver Anniversary.
Viewings at Gurney’s begin at 8:30 p.m., while The Surf Lodge screening begins at 9 p.m.
On Sunday, July 16, meet at Gurney’s for a screening of Twenty Feet From Stardom (PG-13), an Academy Award winning best documentary that explores the story of backup singers from some of the greatest musical acts.
On Sunday, August 6, The Surf Lodge will present Searching for Sugar Man (PG-13), the story about a 1960’s musician that seemed to go off the radar until his music was found and celebrated in South Africa.
The final screening will take place on Sunday, August 13 at Gurneys and feature Open Water (R), the terrifying true story of an American couple who disappeared during a diving expedition.
