Southampton Arts Center has partnered with the Hamptons International Film Festival (HIFF) for the fifth year in a row to offer free outdoor screenings of classic movies throughout the summer.
Southampton Arts Center, which has become a hub for arts and culture on the East End with almost 40,000 visitors, six exhibitions and over 200 events in 2017 alone, delivers year-round programming through an impressive array of partners including New York Academy of Art, Hamptons International Film Festival, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Telluride Mountain film, the Watermill Center, and many more.
The 2018 summer film series with HIFF will feature the Summer of Spielberg – where all movies shown have been written or directed by master filmmaker, Steven Spielberg.
“SAC board member Elyn Kronemeyer and I had both seen the 2017 Spielberg documentary by Susan Lacy and collectively came up with the idea to focus solely on Steven’s films, recalling that previous screenings of his classics in summer’s past have always been audience favorites. We believe it is the perfect way to commemorate our fifth consecutive summer of outdoor film programming,” noted Amy Kirwin, Southampton Arts Center Artistic Director.
The Summer of Spielberg Schedule:
The Friday night films screen on the west lawn and admission is free. Viewings begin at sunset (approximately 8:45 p.m) and guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs, blankets, and picnics. In the event of rain, films will be shown indoors.
Southampton Arts Center is located at 25 Jobs Lane in Southampton. For more information, visit southamptoxartscenter.org.
