Southampton Artists Association (SAA) will close out its 2016 exhibits with its annual Fall Art Show at the Levitas Center for the Arts at the Southampton Cultural Center.
“We have over 40 members taking part of this show and there will be oils, acrylics, mixed media, sculptures and photography,” noted Danielle Leef, a SAA member. “Most of all the works are for sale including many bin items at reasonable prices.”

The varied exhibit will debut on Wednesday, November 2nd and be on view through Sunday, November 13th. An opening reception for the Fall Art Show will be held on Friday, November 4th, from 4 to 6 p.m. Admission to the celebration is free and the event is open to the public. If you like to learn the story behind a piece you’re interested in, many of the artists attend the opening, so this is the perfect opportunity to support the local arts community and learn exactly how the piece you take home came to be.

The not for profit organization gives both professional and amateur artists, who call either the North Fork or South Fork home, the opportunity to have their works shown in a gallery setting.

In addition to its Fall Show, SAA also holds a Late Winter show in February/March, Memorial Day Show, Labor Day Show and the Fall Show (previously known as the Thanksgiving Show). Members have the chance to have their creations displayed during one-person shows during December and January at the Town Hall in Southampton.

The organization’s mission is to “encourage the community of visual artists on the East End of Long Island” and does so by offering outreach programs to all ages. Those looking to fine-tune their skills can take one of the year-round SAA workshops at the Southampton Cultural Center that cover oil painting, drawing and watercolors. SAA also hosts classes that are geared specifically towards local youth and awards high school students with scholarships annually. Additionally, this past June, SAA held a complimentary art and memoir writing workshop for the VFW community in a “meet and greet” gathering.
