“With the chaos of this year’s inauguration, we felt like it would be a good year to have a broad range of interpretation on the theme Love & Passion, and that certainly has shown through,” explained Karyn Mannix of karyn mannix contemporary, who co-curated the show with Andrea MccCafferty of The White Room.
Artists, of all mediums, including performance and video, were invited to create a piece that explored their interpretation of the theme – Love & Passion, during an open call for the juried show.
The 12th Annual Love & Passion will feature Cybele Kadagian, Angela Sincalir, Kat Oneill, Michelle Dragonetti, Claudia Ward, Ann Brandeis, Melissa Hin, Kristina Gale, Donna Corvi, Teresa Lawler, Rosa Hanna-Scott, Doug Reina, Frank Sofo, Sue Zola, Lori Horowitz, Robin Penkins, Leah Smith, Ted Asnis, Barbara Bilotta, Steve Joester, Jackie Fuchs, Lutha Leahy-Miller, Ranelle Wolf, Barnett Suskind, Alicia Gitlitz, Steve Haweeli, Alex Vignoli, Derrick Hickman, Janince Stanton, and Sally Breen, to name but a few.
Love & Passion: The Dirty Dozen Art Show will premiere on Saturday, February 11th during an Opening Wine Reception, from 5 to 8 p.m. On Sunday, February 12th, Love & Passion will spice things up with a Lingerie Soiree Paper Doll Boutique Trunk Show that will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, the Lingerie Soiree will present retro, true vintage and vampy lingerie styles, as well as sexy accessories, stockings and shape wear.
“This being the 12th year of the show, I am always so delighted and excited to see the array of work from a wide variety of artists,” added Mannix. “Artists love to participate in this show. I am always honored by that.”
Art on display throughout the show will be open to public voting, with awards going to the artists in Best in Show, Most Thought Provoking, and Most Original. The winners will be announced on Sunday, February 12th at 2 p.m.
