“Big Art, Small Canvas” Is Final Exhibition Of 2017 At Hamptons-Based Gallery

Just because it comes in a smaller package, doesn’t mean it’s not exceptional.

That’s what viewers at RJD Gallery will find when the Bridgehampton-based gallery wraps up its 2017 season with Big Art, Small Canvas, a group exhibition that highlights paintings and photography from worldwide artists “whose dynamic compositions and narratives are contained with a ‘small canvas.'”

Over 30 artists will present their works, which range from contemporary to secondary to hyper-realism to surrealism, all of which use small canvases to showcase colossal proportions.

Big Art, Small Canvas was inspired by the challenges collectors face, like limited wall space, discovering new artists – this show encompasses – high shipping costs (since the artwork is compact, shipping is more affordable), discovering new trends, artists or statement pieces, and the reemergence of realism, which the Gallery says “the pendulum now swinging back to our niche of realism.”

“Collectors throughout the world are passionate about discovering and adding new artists to their collection,” explained Eve Gianni Corio, RJD Gallery Director. “As collections grow larger, wall space and storage space continues to grow smaller.”

Featured artists include Salvatore Alessi, Erin Anderson, Mary-Jane Ansell, Jules Arthur, Bo Bartlett, Candice Bohannon, Margaret Bowland, Drew Ernest, Rick Garland, Cig Harvey, Andrea Kowch, Alexander Klingspor, Kris Lewis, Rachel Moseley, Katie O’Hagan, Frank Oriti, Daniel Pollera, Jantina Peperkamp, Nadine Robbins, Jackee Sandelands-Strom, Margo Selski, Phillip Thomas, Armando Valero, David Vickery, Pamela Wilson, Stephen Wright, and Jamie Wyeth.

“This exhibit provides an opportunity to see a small work from an artist, before moving to larger, investment pieces,” Gianni Corio added. “In addition, less experienced buyers can now begin their art collections with more affordable works. Explore how each of these artists approach the challenge of a smaller canvas while still creating their dynamic, signature compositions.”

Big Art, Small Canvas will debut during an opening reception on Saturday, November 4. From 6 to 8 p.m., attendees can meet the featured artists, enjoy refreshments, and listen to live guitar and songs from Alfredo Merat.
