The Montauk Artists’ Association will host its 24th Annual Show on the Montauk Green, which returns to “The End” Friday, August 17, through Sunday, August 19.
“We encourage people find time in their schedules to come be a part of this wonderful art event in Montauk,” said Ron Mellot. “It is more than simply an ‘event’, or an exploration of what people create in the myriad forms, styles and art mediums that have become their lives as artisans.”
Opening Friday at 12 p.m., the show will host original and handmade fine art created by local artists as well as artists from the region and around the country.
“More importantly, attending the art show is an exploration of ourselves as we discover and interact with those art creations,” Mellot reflected. “It is a journey into who we are, what we find beautiful and what touches our souls in ways we cannot predict or script. It just happens.”
Transforming into an outdoor art gallery, the Green will present paintings, sculptures, jewelry, photography, glass, ceramics, mixed medias, woodworking and much more. All the creating artists will be present to show and discuss their works, as well as speak about commissioning custom art pieces.
“We discover and fall in love with piece of art that we realize we wish to have become part of our daily existence for years to come. There are few things in life as powerful as that discovery of, and bonding with, a piece of art because that relationship primarily derives from within us,” he concluded.
The Art Show on the Green will be on display Friday from 12 to 6 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission is free.
