Artist Marina Adams To Present Colorful Work At Madoo Conservancy Through The End Of Year

The winter weather is rolling in, but Madoo Conservancy in Sagaponack is still very much open. The beloved East End Conservancy is hosting an exhibition for artist Marina Adams from Saturday, November 30 through Saturday, December 28. The exhibition entitled Marina Adams: SongLines will explore form and color.

“Viewing her work is like being in the passenger seat next to a driver who knows how to take the road with supreme dexterity and implicit attentiveness; you feel safe at any speed,” said Barry Schwabsky, Artforum.

Adams is considered one of the foremost non-objective artists working today, known for monumental paintings composed of vast areas of vibrant color within organic geometries. Though the smaller scale of the paintings in SongLines is comprised of a smaller scale of paintings, although they are filled with pulsating colors lending itself to moments of intimate contemplation. Adams’ is known for her exquisite color palette that features saturated hues.

Adams has studios in both New York City and Parma, Italy. She earned degrees from Tyler School of Art, Temple University and Columbia University’s School of the Arts. Recent solo exhibitions include Salon 94 in New York, Marc Jancou in Switzerland and Galerie Gris in Hudson, New York. Adams is a 2016 recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Fellowship and was chosen by the American Academy of Arts and Letters to receive the 2018 Award of Merit Medal for Painting.

Thee will be a special reception for Marina Adams: SongLines on Saturday, November 30 from 5 to 7 p.m.

Madoo Conservancy is celebrating its 25th anniversary as a public garden in 2019 and is dedicated to the study, preservation, and enhancement of Madoo, the ever changing, horticulturally diverse garden with historic structures established in 1967 by artist, gardener, and writer Robert Dash in the village of Sagaponack, New York. Madoo is a unique living tribute to the artistic imagination of its founder and they seek to continually engage, educate, and inspire visitors within this entirely organic environment. The Madoo Conservancy is a nonprofit 501(c)3 public charity.
