Tripoli Gallery To End One Year And Start The Next With “What Have We Done?”

With the holidays rapidly approaching, Tripoli Gallery will once again present a seasonal favorite, the 15th annual Thanksgiving Collective: What Have We Done? This will be the largest exhibition of artists to date curated by Gallery founder, Tripoli Patterson.

“The 15th Annual Thanksgiving Collective introduces a new location for the gallery in Wainscott. With this new location I want to create an environment that brings the viewer a step closer to the artists I work with and away from all these other stores that line our main streets,” Patterson explained. “I want it to be more of a destination, slightly removed from the Hamptons shoppers or stores that aim to cater to them. This is more about catering to the artists I work with, giving them a location and platform that handle a wider range of exhibitions. This also in turn gives my collectors a venue that allows them to see shows that are normally reserved for the city exhibitions in larger venues, mainly because we don’t have spaces out here that can handle those larger shows.”

The exhibition includes works by John Alexander, Linda K. Alpern, Vahakn Arslanian, Alice Aycock, Katherine Bernhardt, Ashley Bickerton, Ross Bleckner, Dianne Blell, Katherine Bradford, David Bromley, Justin Crawford, Jennifer Cross, Alice Dellal, Jeremy Dennis, Trefny Dix, Sabra Moon Elliot, Hannah Epstein, Eric Fischl, Saskia Friedrich, Félix Bonilla Gerena, Jack Goldstein, Kurt Gumaer, Mary Heilmann, Candice Hill, Bengt Hokanson, Judith Hudson, Bryan Hunt, Yung Jake, Benjamin Keating, Laurie Lambrecht, Brianna Lance, Liz Markus, Bella McGoldrick, Nick Mead, Angelbert Metoyer, Miles Partington, Matisse Patterson, Alexis Rockman, Christina Schlesinger, Nathalie Shepherd, Keith Sonnier, Billy Sullivan, José Luis Vargas, Ross Watts, Nick Weber, Lauren West, Lucy Winton, Darius Yektai, Nico Yektai, and Almond Zigmund.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, November 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. and the exhibition will run through January 30, 2020.

Every year the Thanksgiving Collective highlights a selection of artists that have shown in Tripoli Gallery in the past, but also introduces new artists to the community. There will be a total of 50 artists and the exhibition honors the visions of the diverse group. Tripoli Gallery acknowledges the artists’ continual support of its mission to engage and promote the presence of the art community, which is very important to the East End of Long Island.

“I also see more artist in residencies taking place here, where I can provide studio spaces for international artists, creating a platform that allows me to not only show their work, but also make spaces for them to create it,” Patterson noted about the new location.

The Artists of this year’s Thanksgiving Collective are coming from across the globe, including New York, California, Australia, and Bali. There will be a variety of subjects covered such as nature, humans, animals, abstraction, fairy tales, folklores, and visions. Tripoli Gallery is looking forward to joining all of these creatives minds together for the holiday season. What Have We Done? asks us to reflect on the results of our personal creative efforts this year.


“The art history out here is incredible, and we want to keep on adding to it as we continue to blaze into the 21st century,” Patterson concluded.
