“My dad and brother and I always look forward to our Sag Harbor show,” shared Sag Harbor’s own Daniel Koontz. ” We’re especially excited this year to be featuring Raphael Shapiro — he writes really great, timeless songs.”
On Saturday, November 15th, Daniel, along with his brother Andrew, and their father Warren (who make up the band Edna’s Kin), will perform a mix of traditional American acoustic folk, country music, and original songs at the Christ Episcopal Church in Sag Harbor. The benefit concert, which supports the Christ Church Pipe Organ Fund, begins at 2 p.m.
Edna’s Kin features Dan on guitar, Andrew on fiddle and bass, and Warren on guitar. The band’s YouTube bluegrass version of Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man” has attracted over 100,000 views, and their Sag Harbor concert has become a yearly tradition.
This year a special guest, Raphael Odell Shapiro, who is an up-and-coming star on the New York neo-folk scene, will join the band. Odell Shapiro, who is a Sag Harbor native, will entertain the audience with a selection of his original songs, including tracks from his recently released EP, “Tre Subar,” (released under the name “Odell”) that sound both modern and timeless.
Tickets are $25.
Christ Episcopal Church is located at 4 East Union Street in Sag Harbor. For more information about the concert, call Christ Episcopal Church at 631-725-0128. For more information about Edna’s Kin, visit www.facebook.com.
