Hamptons-Based Museum Hosting Two Family-Friendly Summer Concerts

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill is hosting a duo of family-friendly concerts this July.

The series will launch with Songs for Unusual Creatures on Wednesday, July 19. Created by composer Michael Hearst, the concert will feature original songs accompanied by a myriad of instruments that will be contrasted with projected images depicting unique creatures, taking audience members on a musical investigation of funny and weird animals.

On Wednesday, July 26, Steel Sensations will fill the lawn outside of the Parrish’s terrace with their Trinidadian steel band. Playing music genres ranging from calypso, to popular hits, to classical, this 12-member band will bring a high energy listening experience to all. Made possible through the non-profit, Long Island Traditions, audience members are encouraged to bring blankets or beach chairs to relax while listening to the sweet music of the steel drums.

The eclectic artistry and natural setting throughout Long Island inspires the Parish Art Museum to foster connections through art and interpretive exhibits to initiate cultural engagement.

The Golden Pear Café will be open for food and beverage purchase and reservations are recommended.

Both concerts will begin at 2 p.m. Entry is free with museum admission.
