Another East End music scene fixture is taking the stage at Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse of the South Fork during the Fourth Annual Songwriters Share Concert Series. Fred Raimondo is headlining the Friday, April 6th show, which will benefit The Retreat.
“I’m very excited to be performing at The Songwriters Share series again this year,” shared Raimondo. “I will be joined by an exceptionally talented group of musicians. They are composer and keyboard player Paul Brokaw who’s music has been heard on CNN, Hawaii-50, NCIS, and This Is UsLittle Flower, as well as favorites from 2014’s Stories From The Dark Heart Tavern,” Raimondo explained. “This year the proceeds again go to benefit The Retreat. It promises to be a very fun evening!”
Nancy Remkus, who organizes the Songwriters Share Concert Series, says it will be an evening to remember. “A kind and generous person, Fred’s soothing, original music goes right to your heart,” Remkus reflected. “Fred’s musical friends that will accompany him on April 6th are some of the most accomplished musicians on the East End. The night is sure to be a wonderful night of music and community in an acoustically warm and inviting space.”
Remkus founded the series as a fun way to showcase local musicians, who select a local cause to “share” the proceeds of the evening with.
Following the performance, attendees are encouraged to stick around. “A complimentary reception gives everyone a chance to gather and chat with musicians and concert goers alike,” Remkus added. “The concert benefits The Retreat which is an excellent organization that helps so many families.”
The Retreat is the East End’s sole domestic violence agency. The non-profit’s mission is to “provide safety, shelter and support for victims of domestic abuse and to break the cycle of family violence.” The Retreat offers a variety of services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, and their families, including a 24-hour bilingual hotline, counseling, legal advocacy, prevention education, and emergency shelter.
General Admission to the Songwriters Share Concert Series is $20 and $15 for students and senior citizens. The concert commences at 7:30 p.m.
Additional upcoming Songwriters Share Concert Series include Gene Casey accompanied by Tricia Scotti playing for the Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons on Friday, May 4, and The Songwriters Share Showcase featuring Job Potter, Sarah Azarra, Klyph Black, Sarah Greene, Cynthia Daniels on Friday, June 1.
