The Parrish Art Museum is offering several special events as part of their February Family Month programming. The series debuted on Saturday, January 31st during the opening reception of their annual Student Exhibit featuring works from over 2,000 young East End artists. Family Month activities will include children’s art workshops, evening programs, and other family friendly happenings.
From Monday, February 16th through Friday, February 20th, instead of spending their winter break stuck at home, children can participate in a five-session Winter School Vacation Workshop, where they will journey through the galleries to find inspiration and then create art in the studio under the guidance of art educators. Wendy Gottlieb will lead the 2-hour morning sessions for 4 to 6-year-olds and Madolin Archer will guide the afternoon sessions for children 7-years-old and up. Each class will explore a different medium and theme, starting with Landscape Painting on Monday, then Mixed Media Collage on Tuesday, Portraits and Printmaking on Wednesday, Drawing on Thursday, and finally Seascape Painting on Friday. Children can attend either individual sessions or the entire week, at $40 per session, or $30 per session for Parrish Members.
On February 20th, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., get ready to move and shake it at Family Night: Dance Party!. During the event, A&G Dance Company will teach attendees hip-hop dance moves and then entertain guests during an extraordinary dance performance by A&G founder, Adam Baranello. Attendees can also join in the creation of a collaborative graffiti-style mural in The Lynne and Richard Pasculano Studio. Admission to the Dance Party is included in the Museum’s admission.
The Student Exhibit at the Parrish is on view through Sunday, March 1st.
