Southampton Historical Museum recently welcomed the debut of two new Southampton Art Exhibits at the Rogers Mansion Museum Complex. Both exhibits, “Into the Deep” and “Views of Southampton,” will remain on display through Saturday, October 17th.
“Into the Deep” displays works by Hawaii native, Paton Miller. The artist left his home and set out to explore Asia in 1974. Miller’s travels then brought him to the East End, where he won an art scholarship from Southampton College and later graduated with honors. Miller has an impressive collection of paintings inspired by his travels and has had countless solo and group exhibitions throughout the world, including some in New York City, Florence, and Shanghai.
“Views of Southampton,” displays oil paintings by Pat Garrity. The painter, who pursued several careers before revisiting and following her love for art, is a member of the Southampton Artists, East End Arts Council and an associate member for the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. Her work illustrates the nature and landscapes of the East End through the contact of light and beauty.
