On Saturday, October 17th, East End photographer and wildlife expert Dell Cullum is visiting the LongHouse Reserve to lead Above the Treetops: A Drone Photography Workshop, an informative class about drone photography.
“I’m going to show how to use the drone as a photographic tool rather than a toy, or just to take aerial pictures,” shared Cullum. “A drone can be useful for more than just getting a camera up high in the sky. I’m going to show you with a drone, what planes can’t do.” Students will learn how to use a bird’s-eye view to capture photos and videos that will impress all. Using the latest in aerial technology, Cullum will cover a variety of techniques, including documenting sweeping vistas and zooming in for a close up of a selected subject.
“I hope to take the intimidation out of drone use for photography by letting everyone fly one, while stressing safety and common sense,” noted Cullum. “We’re certain to have a fun and interesting workshop with a spectacular backdrop of the Longhouse Reserve.” A drone is able to produce high quality photos from heights that give photographers a competitive advantage and a whole new perspective on their subject, especially at the spacious 16 acre grounds of the LongHouse.

Above the Treetops: A Drone Photography Workshop will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. No equipment is necessary to participate in the class and all attendees will have an opportunity to experience flying.
