The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill is hosting a screening of short, noncommercial surf movies on Friday, August 23. The screening, entitled “Atlantic Vibrations,” will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. and in keeping with the museum’s strong emphasis on local artwork, will feature amateur movies made exclusively from Westhampton to Montauk.
The program is intended to be a platform for emerging and established filmmakers. The summer screening will consist of 14 films, all 5 minutes or less, submitted by amateur film directors, and will be juried by director Michael Halsband and artist Mike Solomon.
Free access to the screening is extended to Parrish members, children, and students. If you don’t manage to fit into one of these categories, the price of admission is just $10 and includes regular museum admission. Space for the screenings is limited and the Museum recommends that guests make advanced reservations through their website.
Reservations can be made at www.parrishart.org.
