Internationally renowned Swedish artist Jacob Felländer’s stunning artwork was hanging in The Maidstone Hotel’s cozy lounge before being shipped to the set of Jonathan Baker’s new movie, Inconceivable. Baker and his wife, Jenny, own and operate The Maidstone Hotel in our very own East Hampton village.
Inconceivable began shooting on October 10th and is set for a 2017 release date. The sexy psychological drama features Oscar winners Nicolas Cage and Faye Dunaway, as well as co-stars Nicky Whelan and Gina Gershon.
“His [Felländer] work is all over the main house that Nic (Cage) and Gina (Gershon) live in,” explains Baker, who splits his time between Los Angeles, New York and East Hampton. “His work will be used in the master bedroom, the master hallways, the living room and dining room. His inspiration will allow the lens to pop with colors and define the people in the film with great richness. I am proud to have his art in my art. The art was handpicked by me and created after he came to The Maidstone for an Artist in Residence program in May. I was so inspired by him that I created the living space around his art for my film Inconceivable.”
Felländer was born in Stockholm, Sweden and came to the U.S. on a golf scholarship before pursuing his passions in fine art photography, graphic design, and landscape photography. By 2004, Felländer perfected a technique using relic film cameras to capture multiple exposures in a single image.

“Being part of the photo collection at the Maidstone is a huge honor. Jonathan and Jenny Baker’s way of letting art and the creative processes be the hero in everything they are involved in is extremely inspiring,” says Felländer.
The Maidstone Hotel is a historic 19th century property on East Hampton’s Main Street. The hotel features 19 eclectic rooms and cottages, designed to celebrate some of the most inspiring Scandinavian personalities. Guests will find that each room features a different artist and the hotel’s colorful walls come to life with contemporary photo art.
“Jacob is one of our dear friends and it’s an honor and a privilege to have his art in the hotel and now my husband’s movie,” said Jenny Baker. “His style gives any room a unique aura, just as all the others artist’s work at The Maidstone. We love supporting artists from all over the world as well as the art community in the Hamptons.”
