Citizens for Access Rights (cfAR) is teaming up with the Hamptons Drive-In to host its annual Family Outdoor Movie Night.
On Tuesday, August 22 (with a rain date of Tuesday, August 29), The Sandlot will be taking over the Maidstone Park Ball Field in East Hampton.
“We look forward to this event every summer,” explained Nicole Castillo of CfAR. “The families love it and it’s a great way to keep the CfAR name out there reminding everyone that we are still fighting to maintain public beach access.”
The coming-of-age baseball film follows Scottie Smalls, who moves to a new neighborhood and befriends a group of kids who play baseball at the sandlot. They go on a series of comical and heartwarming adventures.
The screening supports CfAR, a not for profit organization that is committed to the preservation of open access to local beaches.
CfAR members can view the movie for free, while the cost for non-members is $5. Audience members are encouraged to bring beach chairs and blankets for viewing, and there will be refreshments for purchase.
“This year we chose a classic film, The Sandlot, as we have had requests for it as an all-time favorite for all ages,” added Castillo. “We hope that everyone will come out and support CfAR and watch a great class under the stars.”
The gates open at 7:30 p.m. and the film begins at 8:30 p.m.
The Maidstone Park Ball Field is located at Maidstone Park Road in East Hampton. For more information visit citizensforaccessrights.com.
