The Ladies Of WHBPAC To Make Their Big Screen Debut During “Making A Life”

Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (WHBPAC) is capping off its Women’s History Month celebration with a very special screening. The stories of WHBPAC’s female volunteers will be highlighted on Friday, March 26 during Making a Life.

“We want to showcase that women’s history comes in all forms, and many of the women around us have unusual and unexpected stories, anecdotes, and experiences – if you just ask,” noted WHBPAC Director of Volunteer Services Allison Frost. “For many of these women, it’s a wonderful way to relive their memories and pass their knowledge on to younger generations.”

The documentary-style film, presented in collaboration with East End lawyer Nancy Burner of Burner Law Group, delves into the lives and loves of the wonderful women that volunteer at WHBPAC.

“I love working with WHBPAC because they understand the power of creative storytelling,” explained Nancy Burner, the founder of Burner Law Group‚ P.C., which was established in 1995. The distinguished litigator holds the designation of Certified Elder Law Attorney (CELA), and was also chosen by a panel of peers to be included in Best Lawyers in America for Elder Law. The past president of the Suffolk County Women’s Bar Association and past co-chair of the Suffolk County Elder Law Committee has been fêted as Long Island Elder Law Attorney of the year, and in 2016, she was named an “Outstanding Woman in Law” by Hofstra University School of Law Center for Children Families and the Law.

“Nancy has shown a constant commitment to women, both through her business and through her philanthropy. We are honored to be working with her to shine a light on our fabulous volunteers and their inspiring stories,” reflected Executive Director Julienne Penza-Boone.

“Nancy’s work in the elder law field is a perfect partner for Women’s History Month and the performing arts center,” added WHBPAC Marketing Director Heather Draskin. “Most are past the age of retirement and they make up the core of our volunteers. Nancy’s commitment to giving others the tools and resources needed to live a prosperous and full ‘third age’ is inspirational.”

The Making a Life viewing will be utilized as part of Burner and her business partner Britt Burner’s social media campaigns to bring awareness to the power of the third age. To encourage and empower all to embrace the golden years, as well as combat ageism and quash common fallacies about aging, the duo have established Third Age Unplugged, a digital platform that offers age-related writings, focus groups, motivating stories, and podcasts.

“I want people to be the hero of their own story,” Burner concluded.

The Making a Life screening will begin at 7:00 p.m. Attendees must reserve a spot in advance.
