On Saturday, September 14, Southampton Cultural Center will present Voices of Poetry – Muses of Blues. The event will take place at Southampton Cultural Center’s Levitas Center for the Arts (25 Pond Lane, Southampton Village). Voices of Poetry and Muse of Blues will feature an evening of great poetry and music at Southampton Cultural Center, a beautiful performance venue. This event will feature a stellar array of poets – Jessica Greenbaum, Michael Klein, Eva Salzman & Neil Silberblatt – plus music by acclaimed vocalist/composer Christine Tobin.
Southampton Cultural Center – a non-profit organization – combines art, education, dance, music and theatre to engage and nourish the entire community with the arts. Established in 1985, SCC serves all East End residents and visitors by providing a variety of programming including classes, art exhibitions, and live performances for children and adults. A bequest by the late Willard Levitas and his wife Aura allowed a renovation and expansion that led to the 2006 opening of SCC’s performance space, the Levitas Center for the Arts.
Since 2012, Voices of Poetry has organized and presented more than 200 poetry events in four states: NY, NJ, CT and MA. Those events – which have featured Poets Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winners/nominees, as well as those who have not (yet) published a word – have been presented at numerous venues, including Provincetown Art Association & Museum; The New Britain Museum of American Art in New Britain, CT; The Mount / Edith Wharton’s home in Lenox, MA; and The Rubin Museum of Art in NYC. This marks VOP’s first event on Long Island.
Tickets are on sale for $25 general admission; available in advance at scc-arts.org or at the door; reservations are suggested.
