The East Hampton Library will host their annual Authors Night fundraising event on Saturday, August 10 2013. The event was founded in 2005 by Alec Baldwin and Barbara Goldsmith. Originally featuring just a handful of dinners and a few hundred attendees, the event has since expanded to become the premier literary occasion in the Hamptons with over 125 featured authors and more than 1,000 guests in attendance.
The evening will begin at 5 p.m. with a reception under a tent at Gardiner Farm (36 James Lane) in East Hampton. During this time, guests can enjoy hors d’oeuvres and wine and will have the opportunity to meet the authors. The authors, which will include locals like Sag Harbor’s Tom Clavin as well as New York Times Bestsellers like Susan Isaacs and Nelson DeMille, will also be signing copies of their books. The most recent titles by each writer will be available for purchase at the event.
After the reception concludes, the authors will split up to attend individual dinner parties hosted at various Hamptons households and discuss their most recent works. The dinner parties all begin at 8 p.m. and guests can purchase tickets to attend an event featuring the author of their choice.
For $20, interested parties can also participate in a raffle for the opportunity to win various prizes, including a trip for four to Stockholm, Sweden, a 40-pound wheel of Vasterbotten Cheese, a Sony Xperia Tablet, and others. You do not have to attend the event to participate in the raffle.
Tickets for the authors reception and cocktail hour cost $100, while tickets to attend an author’s dinner range from $250 to $1,000 depending on the package purchased. All proceeds will directly benefit the East Hampton Library.
