When it comes to vineyards on the East End, the North Fork is the ultimate wine country with boundless acres upon acres dedicated to growing grapes for wine, and more than 60 wineries. It’s where many Long Island locals and visitors alike enjoy heading out for a day of wine tasting as they take in the countryside landscape and serene views. But, although the North Fork may have a much greater quantity, highly esteemed vineyards aren’t exclusive to this part of the East End. The South Fork has carved out a place of its own in wine country with three beautiful wineries and equally high-quality, even award-winning, wine that are worth a visit. Plus, these three locations have arguably some of the best picturesque scenery when it comes to Long Island vineyards!

Wölffer Estate has hundreds of acres altogether that can be found across both Long Island Forks, as well as in Spain and Argentina, and they partner with growers on both Forks as well as in France. The estate in Sagaponack is 55 acres of sustainably farmed vineyards where the conditions are premier for growing. They offer multiple varieties of wines, many of which are award-winning, spirits, and cider. Their White Horse wines have won numerous awards throughout the years, and their Summer Wines perfectly encapsulate the Hamptons vibe and spirit—especially the refreshing and light rosé ‘Summer in a Bottle’.
Wölffer Estate also has a wine stand located at 3312 Montauk Highway in Sagaponack just around the corner from the vineyard and is a great place to gather for sunsets and a grand view of the estate. Wine can be enjoyed at this pitstop while taking in the scenery or purchased to-go.
