In this Botanical Painting workshop with Barbara Thomas, students will explore spring buds and plant forms from the LongHouse gardens. They will pick branch forms and early seasonal buds and blooms to paint in the studio, learning and practicing traditional methods of classic botanical painting: looking closely at plant parts and forms, mixing color, brush strokes, how to ‘lay in’ a painting. This workshop is for beginner to experienced students. Please bring your own materials. Some materials will be available at LongHouse.

In celebration of Earth Day, join LongHouse Reserve and artist, weaver, creative director of Luum Textiles Suzanne Tick and her studio designers in a weaving workshop using recycled materials. Participants are encouraged to bring their discarded belongings to weave into their looms to give these materials a new life. Tick Studio designers will assist participants in making lap loom weavings using materials and items they wish to recycle.
