Bay Street Theater has announced its 2025 Mainstage Schedule. Tracy Mitchell, Bay Street Theater’s Executive Director, said, “This summer is going to be sizzling! I am so excited for this lineup with a World Premiere and a psychological thriller. And then to have our very own Scott Schwartz directing the musical BONNIE & CLYDE… I think Bay Street is going to blow the roof off this summer!”
Scott Schwartz, Bay Street’s Artistic Director, was equally as enthusiastic as he told Hamptons.com, “Bay Street is committed to bringing programming that showcases all that theater can be to our audience every summer. And we’re committed to entertaining evenings! I think our 2025 season will provide all that and more. With a moving and insightful new play, a startling and “jump in your seat” psychological thriller, and a romantic, sexy, wild ride of a musical, engrossing and enticing summer nights are the name of the game at Bay Street this year.”
First up, running May 27th to June 15th will be “BOB AND JEAN, A TRUE LOVE STORY.” This will be a World Premiere. It is a funny, thoughtful play about finding your way together when you are vast distances apart and the true story of a courtship during World War II between an officer and a USO performer. Bay Street is proud to be presenting to the east-end audience this new play by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award Winner Robert Schenkkan (All the Way, The Kentucky Cycle), which will be directed by Matt August. This play is to be co-produced with Arizona Theater Company.
Then, on June 24th, running until July 20th, will be the presentation of the play, “DECEIVED.” Written by Johnna Wright and Patty Jamieson, it was adapted from the play by Patrick Hamilton and will be Directed by Sheryl Kaller. This is the play Schwartz called “A startling and “jump in your seat” psychological thriller.” About “DECEIVED,” the Bay Street promotional folks said, “As whispers echo through the walls and the gaslights flicker in the darkness, one woman struggles to hold onto the truth—before it slips through her fingers. An electrifying ride, filled with haunting twists.” Adding, “Who will you believe, and who can you trust?”
Closing out the 2025 Bay Street Summer season will be a production of “BONNIE AND CLYDE: THE MUSICAL.” It will run from July 29th until August 24th and will be Directed by Bay Street Theater’s Artistic Director Scott Schwartz with Music by Frank Wildhorn, Lyrics by Don Black, and Book by Ivan Menchell. This production of the award-nominated musical will be a bold new production. Bonnie Parker dreamed of Hollywood, and Clyde Barrow craved a life beyond the law, and together, they became the most notorious duo of their time. This production will combine passion, danger, and fame. Bay Street promises that this production of BONNIE AND CLYDE: THE MUSICAL will ignite the stage with the fiery romance of America’s infamous young outlaws, blending passionate love with rebellion against the backdrop of the Great Depression.
With this lineup, one can see why Executive Director Tracy Mitchell says, “Bay Street is going to blow the roof off this summer!” In many interviews with Hamptons.com, Artistic Director Schwartz has always pledged to bring top-shelf talent to the east end via the Bay Street Mainstage. The lobby walls are covered with photos of legendary stars performing on the unique stage that was actually built in the spirit of the Mitzi Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center over forty years ago. This unique design ensures there is never a bad seat in the house with the audience close to the stage. In fact, “Engrossing and enticing summer nights are the name of the game at Bay Street” not only this year but every year.
