The first official snowfall of the winter is upon us, and while it might be turning to slush quite quickly, forecasts predict another storm is just on its tail. So, we’ve compiled a list of the best places to enjoy the Hamptons snow this winter.
Sledding
Southampton Youth Services or SYS, located on Majors Path, has great, booming hills just behind the rec center. As a child, this was always my favorite place to sledd and enjoy fresh snowfall.
Pierson High School is home to a giant hill that rivals the ones found behind SYS. I’ve also heard of sledders enjoying Westhampton Beach Elementary School’s hills and East Quogue Elementary School’s hills.
After a winter storm, high winds have likely created sharp dunes and bluffs, which might make for great riding conditions. In the parking lot of Coopers Beach in Southampton, a hill is commonly used for drivers to check out the waves for the day. When unplowed, this is another perfect spot for kids to have some winter fun while their parents enjoy an icy ocean view.
