Ralph Macchio Attending Hamptons “The Karate Kid” Fundraiser

Join the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center for a screening of The Karate Kid at the Southampton High School on Saturday, November 19th at 7 p.m. Not only will your donations help the rescued animals at the Hampton Bays-based Wildlife Rescue Center, but fundraiser attendees will also get to participate in a Q&A with “The Original Karate Kid,” Ralph Macchio.

Supporters will be greeted by rescued wildlife from the Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center, including a great horned owl and red tailed hawk. This is a family fun event!

“We are so excited to have a fellow Long Islander, Ralph Macchio, supporting us in bringing awareness to the injured and orphaned wildlife on Eastern Long Island,” remarked Shelley Berkoski, Director of Development at Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center.

The Karate Kid follows Daniel (Macchio), who becomes the target of a group of bullies who study karate at the Cobra Kai dojo when he moves to Southern California with his mother, Lucille (Randee Heller). Luckily, Daniel meets Mr. Miyagi (Noriyuki “Pat” Morita), an inconspicuous repairman who coincidentally is a martial arts master himself. Miyagi helps train Daniel, but in a more compassionate form of karate and gets him ready to compete against the ruthless Cobra Kai. The 1984 film was directed by John G. Avildsen.

There is a suggested donation of $25 for adults and children 11-years-old and older. Admission for children 10-years-old and under is free. VIP tickets include photo opportunities with Ralph Macchio and are $50. All tickets include entry to The Karate Kid movie screening, which will be followed by the film’s star – Ralph Macchio – sharing his experience and behind-the-scenes stories with fans.

The Evelyn Alexander Wildlife Rescue Center is Eastern Long Island’s only Wildlife Hospital. Each animal that crosses their doorstep receives comfort and compassion. Animals stay in their facility for days, weeks and sometimes months before they are strong enough to be released back into the wild, or until they find a suitable facility if an animal is non-releasable. The Center operates solely on the generosity of donations and does not receive government funding.
