Starting Wednesday, February 17th, artwork from over 30 Long Island-based artists will be showcased at the Levitas Center for the Arts at the Southampton Cultural Center as part of the Southampton Artists Association’s annual Winter Art Show. On display through Sunday, February 28th, visitors will enjoy a vibrant collection of fine arts adorning the Gallery, from photography to paintings to drawings to sculptures.

Featured artists will include Deb Acquino, Anita Amico, Peter Beston, Dennis Bontempo, Vicki Bryant, Linda Capello, John Philip Capello, Donna Cordova, Joanne Corretti, Charles Damga, Paul Dempsey, Jason Fox, Helen B. Giaquinto, Urs Koehli, David Kornrumpf, Denise LeBrun, Dom Lamontanaro, Jacques LeBlanc, Danielle Leef, Katherine Liepe-Levinson, Steve Marciw, Martha Mcaleer, Tom Mollo, Constance Morris, Trudy Nunez, Paul Padovano, Bonnie Ruben, Neva Setlow, James Slezak, Pamela Thomson, Maureen Travers, James Witker, James Wightman, and Elizabeth Yastrzemski. For several of the participants, the local landscape sparked their process. “The inspiration for these photographs was to capture the perfect balance between the brilliant sky and the stillness of the water,” noted Leef.
Members reside across the East End, spanning on the South Fork from Remsenburg to Montauk and on the North Fork from Calverton to Orient Point. “Southampton Artists Association is a not for profit organization that holds four shows annually,” explained Dom Lamontanaro, PhD, President of Southampton Artists Association. “The mission of the organization continues to be to extend local artist members the opportunity to display their works in a Southampton gallery and to support local art activities wherever possible.”
The organization also looks to cultivate their members’ and the community’s creativity through classes, workshops, meetings and other programs. “This includes giving a scholarship to a local high school student annually and sponsoring a number of art courses at the Southampton Cultural Center,” added Lamontanaro.

An opening reception for the Winter Art Show will take place on Saturday, February 20th from 4 to 6 p.m.
