Contractors For Kids (CFK) is bringing a dose of rodeo to Riverhead, at Sleepy Hollow Farm on Saturday, October 26. The cowboy themed Halloween benefit and horsemanship show will raise funds for the Long Island charity which assists parents of seriously and terminally ill children.
The day will feature horsemanship classes for children and adults, cattle-roping competitions, barrel and dash racing, rider-and-horse costume classes and parade, pony rides, a swap meet, egg-and-spoon riding races, a Chinese auction of baskets with items donated by local businesses, and free BBQ food.
Kevin G. Harney and Alan Nahmias of Stalco Construction, founded CFK in 2005. Since its start, the organization has assisted almost 400 Long Island families and raised over $4 million. “We have reimbursed travel costs related to cutting-edge treatments unavailable locally and provided aid to families unable to submit mortgage payments due to healthcare-related expenses,” explained Harney. “We also assist parents faced with the heartbreaking task of making funeral arrangements for their children.”
Admission is $5 per person. The Western entertainment begins at 11 a.m. and continues until 5:30 p.m.
Sleepy Hollow Farm is located at 391 Middle Road in Riverhead. For more information call 1-888-208-KIDS or visit www.contractorsforkids.org.
