"The story is an enchanting escape, but the Menken score, to me, takes the simple tale of girl rom a rural village and catapults it of new heights," shared Director Michael Disher.
"One of the main goals of this concert series is to present and showcase the wonderful world of music within the Jazz umbrella and beyond," said Claes Brondal, series organizer. "The roots of rhythm and history of the Americas is the unique melting pot of world cultures and societies."
The solo exhibition will feature her work from over the years, with varied images of graffiti, tombstones, a scene from Rikers Island presented as photographs or mixed media pieces.
"Our spring series has deepened our relationship with our community in ways that continue to surprise us," remarked Artistic Director Marya Martin.
"Viewers are taken on a tour through Partington's world as they step from the first room of the gallery to the second, transforming from observers of his subjects to participants among them, which leap in scale from miniatures to life-sized beings," says the gallery.
"This will be a great night of music as Caroline takes a break from touring the country and joins her full band for a hometown concert!" shared Nancy Remkus.
"SAA promotes art in our community by encouraging local artists to share their work with art lovers, other artists and even those with a casual interest in art, which in turn challenges artists to improve and expand their work," explained Dave Johns.
