The donation from Brian Kelly, owner of East End Tick & Mosquito Control, will support the creation of a curriculum for East End school districts that is in accordance with NYS requirements for school-age children.
"Remarkably, we are among the first municipalities in New York State to implement a plastic-bag ban, but we are proud to help lead the way in eliminating one of the most common and lasting form of litter," said Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Holst.
"It's always a great event, to see so many former ARFans in attendance, with their owners showing them off with such pride," noted Jamie Berger, Director of Marketing & Communications at Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF).
The free event will kickoff with a beach cleanup, followed by the Fabulous Nature Nick and His Live Animal Family.
Last year, over 1,200 participants ages ranging from 4 to 89-years-old, ran, jogged or walked the race route.
"Concerned Citizens of Montauk, in cooperation with Group for the East End, Montauk School, EH Trails Preservation Society and Surfrider Foundation, is hosting The Great Montauk Cleanup," noted Danielle Friscia.
"We are so pleased to fulfill his vision and honor the memory of his extraordinary leadership and dedication to the Library with the launch of this remarkable new series," said Donald L. Hunting, President of the Library's Board of Managers.
"Expanded education is my passion, as I believe expanded learning opportunities are key to student learning," noted Rebecca Morgan Taylor.
"I'm anxious to get the cleanup season started with the 2nd annual Shoreline Sweep," expressed Founder Dell R. Cullum.
"These 29 students and their mentors put in countless hours over the last 3 months, building their robot from the ground up, fundraising, and truly working as a team," said Sharon Dyer, Co-advisor of the Westhampton Beach High School Robotics Team 3171.
