The intense manhunt for the Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev came to the North Fork this afternoon as sources report that Southold Town Police and the Suffolk County Bomb Squad responded to a lead at the Cross Sound Ferry in Orient Point on Friday, April 19, 2013. Authorities were called in after receiving a report that a passenger, who boarded in New London, Connecticut, traveling on the Cross Sound Ferry fit the suspect’s description.
Once the boat docked in Orient Point, the suspect was secured and searched. It was deemed a false alarm yet authorities remain on guard at all major transportation hubs throughout the New England area.
Southold Town Police confirmed that an investigation is underway but could not comment on the incident at this time.
