Shopping for a blouse or a belt was not the only objective on guests’ minds on Thursday, August 8, in East Hampton, Bridgehampton and Sag Harbor shops.
The Retreat hosted its third annual “Shop for Success in 41 thrift shops around the East End to raise money for the Hamptons shelter that helps women and children who have been victims to domestic violence. The event ended with a screening of “E.T.: The Extraterrestrial” in Herrick Park.
“It’s such a win-win all around,” said Hope Kramer, the director of philanthropy at The Retreat. “It’s great getting support from the retail shops. We list them on our website and we get people out on the streets and get them shopping.”
Contributors included Juicy Couture, Coach of East Hampton, Montauk Printing, White’s Pharmacy, various Hamptons media outlets and more. All stores paid a $200 entry fee and then donated anywhere between 10 and 15 percent of their sales from the night to The Retreat. Last year, The Retreat raised $20,000.
The Retreat will be hosting a golf tournament fundraiser on Monday, September 16, at The Southport Country Club.
