Large Cash Prizes For Hamptons “Last Hurrah” Tuna Tournament

Ten thousand dollars in cash prizes is being offered during the “Last Hurrah” Tuna Tournament sponsored by Montauk Marine Basin and White Water Outfitters. The outing will take place from Sunday, September 27 through Tuesday, October 12.

During the 16 day competition participants can fish two 20 hour day trips or one 40 hour overnight trip during the period. “This is the last of the big Montauk fishing tournaments this year and one of the most highly competitive,” said Carl Darenberg, owner, Montauk Marine.

Prize categories include Mako Shark, Yellow Fin Tuna, Big Eye Tuna, True Albacore Tuna, Mahi Mahi, Heaviest Tuna, and Heaviest Swordfish. The overall winner of the most points wins $2,500.

Spectators are welcome to watch the daily weigh-ins at the dock which begin around 2 p.m. and the winners be awarded on Sunday, October 13, at The Hula Hut at Montauk Marine, West Corner.
