Updated: Hampton Bays Civic Association To Hold Informational Series About The Town’s Future, Present, And Past

Update: Due to Winter Storm Juno, Professor Marc Fasanella’s presentation will be presented at the HBCA meeting on Monday, February 23rd.

Hampton Bays Civic Association (HBCA) is holding their monthly meeting on Monday, January 26th at 7 p.m. The gathering will feature the first presentation of a three-part series about the East End hamlet.

Stony Brook University Professor of Ecological Design Marc Fasanella will lead the lecture, Downtown Hampton Bays: Its Future, Present, and Past, which will feature images from the cutting edge of community development. The presentation will also showcase regional and international environmental design as well as neighborhood redevelopment projects applicable to the distinct culture and economy of Hampton Bays titled: “On Good Ground: Envisioning the Future of the Hamlet of Hampton Bays.”

The series will cover Breakwaters, Bays and Barrens: Natural Resource Protection and Development; Aquaculture, Agriculture and Antiques: Day lighting Community Foundations; Ecology, Education and Environmental Resilience: Nature as a Classroom, the Edible Schoolyard, Art, Craft and Design; Declining Suburbs: Up-zoning, Open Space and Planned Development Districts; The Comfortable Landscape: Ecological Corridors, Novel Landscapes, Native Plants and Pollinator Pathways; Sun, Surf and Supper: Enhancing Recreation and Waterfront Access; Boats, Bicycles, Busses, Trains, Trams and Trails: A Park, Walk and Ride Community; The New Old Neighborhood: Mixed Use, Pedestrian, Efficient and Affordable; and Place-Making: Crafting a Community Identity, Good Ground Park and Downtown Revitalization.

Professor Fasanella’s lecture will be followed by an audience charrette, where attendees can discuss the development of main street and the shoreline.
