“The League of Women Voters of the Hamptons Special Events Committee has sponsored trips to explore and learn about our East End by visiting historic and other sites in our neighboring communities,” shared Gladys Remler and Joanne Samborn, co-chairs of the League’s Special Events Committee. “We have been to Shelter Island, the North Fork, Riverhead and Sag Harbor.”
On Wednesday, June 10th, League of Women Voters is inviting East Enders to join them on an “Amazing Amagansett Adventure.” The event will kickoff at 11 a.m., with a tour of East Hampton Town Marine Museum followed by a tour of the Community Boat Shop. A talk led by Isabel Carmichael about the historic Amagansett Life-Saving Station is next up. Attendees will then take a break for a catered lunch at Art Barge (110 Napeague Meadow Road). The afternoon will also include a tour/talk by Chris Kohan on Victor D’Amico, Founding Director of the MOMA Education Department and a tour of the Victor/Mabel D’Amico House in Lazy Point. Attendees will finish the afternoon with a stroll or some window shopping on Main Street in Amagansett.
“All of our trips have been enlightening,” noted Remler and Samborn. “These are fund raising events and are always kept at affordable prices.”
To register, send a $40 check by Friday, June 5th, made out to LWVH, to Gladys Remler (180 Melody Ct., Eastport, 11941).
“We now anticipate visiting Amagansett for a wonderful day of exploration which culminates with a catered lunch, included in the price of $40, aboard the Art Barge,” said Remler and Samborn. “Do join us.”
