Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death and the second most common cancer among both men and women in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. On Sunday, August 9th at 8:45 a.m., help raise awareness for the cause by joining Lung Cancer Research Foundation during the 10th annual Strides for Life.
The 3-mile long walk is dedicated to spreading the world about the effects of lung cancer and to ensure that lung cancer research receives the funding that it needs. The annual walk will begin at Lake Agawam, and Southampton Village Mayor Mark Epley will serve as this year’s honorary chairman.
This event is the first of its kind to support lung cancer research and it is now the signature event of the Lung Cancer Research Foundation, which is a non-profit organization that has been around since 2005. The Foundation expects over 1,000 participants at the 2015 Strides for Life. Attendees include professional runners, walkers, joggers, teams, families and current and former lung cancer patients and survivors.
The entry fee for ages 13 and higher is $45, plus a $3 registration fee. For ages 12 and under, the fee is $25, plus a $3 registration fee. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Southampton Cultural Center (2 Pond Lane, Southampton).
