You know how excited fido gets when he or she sees his or her leash and knows that an exhilarating adventure is about to begin? Well, on Saturday, May 7th, the East End community is invited to bring their furry family members (dogs on leashes and their cats in carriers) to a Pet Celebration Day at Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons, Inc. (ARF).
From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., tails will be wagging during this free event where ARF alumni will meet and mix with other local pets.
Four-legged friends can test their skills on an agility course, scarf down complimentary treats made from real food at the Freshpet treat station, enter contests, “Ask the Vet” with ARF’s Dr. Frank Zeoli, “Ask the Behaviorist” with Dr. Barbara Pezzinate, and more. ARF will provide complimentary Microchipping, the fastest and most efficient way to reunite a lost pet with its family, as well as rabies vaccines, but cats and dogs must be spayed/neutered to take advantage of the free services.
“We encourage all pet lovers to stop by the Adoption Center on May 7th, whether you are an ARF adopter or not,” said Jamie Berger, Director of Marketing & Communications at ARF. “It’s a day to celebrate your pet, no matter where they came from.”
The lively afternoon will once again include songs from Sandy Rapp. And, pet owners can match their animal’s endless energy by sipping on coffee donated by Hampton Coffee Company and noshing on donuts that will be made on site at the Dreesen’s Donut Truck. Guests will also have the chance to mingle with ARF’s new Executive Director Scott Howe, as well as learn about toxin-free gardening with Edwina von Gal, founder of The Perfect Earth Project.
Additionally, ARF will hold its brief annual meeting with the election of new board members, Dale Ellen Leff, Summer Louchheim and Richard Liberman and the re-election of board member Rachel Sumers.
The family-friendly Pet Celebration Day is a joyful experience for ARF staff members, who are always thrilled to be reunited with former ARFans. “It always warms our hearts to see our former ARFans with their forever families,” added Berger.
Admission to ARF’s Pet Celebration Day is free.
