Alec Baldwin And Hilaria Baldwin Serving As Honorary Co-Chairs Of Parrish’s Summer Family Party

The Parrish Art Museum in Water Mill will host its beloved fifth annual Summer Family Party, a benefit to support the Museum’s year-round initiatives, on Sunday, August 19.

From 3 to 6 p.m., a variety of engaging, entertaining offerings will be presented inside the Museum and outdoors on the lawn and terrace.

“This festive party, in the beautiful setting of the Parrish, is truly one of a kind here in the Hamptons,” said Board Co-President and Committee Member Alexandra Stanton. “Where else could families have the incredible opportunity to work face-to-face with nationally renowned artists who offer their time for the Museum and to inspire future generations?”

During workshops, little ones and their families will have the chance to create alongside established artists, including Paton Miller, who is returning to the Summer Family Party for the fourth time, as well as Monica Banks, Eric Dever, Brian Farrell, Bastienne Schmidt, and Almond Zigmund.

Additionally, there will be a myriad of interactive experiences. Parrish’s Lichtenstein Theater will welcome an instructor from A Flippin’ Good Time who will teach children about improvising on-camera, as well as guide attendees through creating their own classic flipbook. For those looking for a challenge, take part in the self-paced art scavenger hunt through the Museum’s expansive 12,000 square feet of gallery space.

There will also be brief docent-led tours that explore the Parrish’s current works, including a large-scale neon sculpture by Keith Sonnier and Cameroonian artist Barthélémy Toguo’s life-size boat that is surrounded by 100 artworks that highlight boats throughout the years.

When guests need a snack, they can enjoy a freshly-prepared barbeque dinner and an ice cream truck will be making an appearance towards the culmination of the event.

“In addition to the special educational aspect, the party is a fun-filled afternoon of engaging activities for families to do together—all while supporting the Parrish Art Museum’s year-round programs,” Stanton added.

Alec Baldwin and Hilaria Baldwin will serve as Honorary Co-Chairs, with Robin Abendaño, Sarah Aibel, Shazma Alibhai, Mimi Crawford, Cristina Greeven Cuomo, Andrea Greeven Douzet, Notoya Green, Robin Lefcourt, Heather McDowell, Leslie Miller, Samantha Mollett, Elizabeth Fearon Pepperman, Carole Reed, Marcia Dunn Sobel, Alexandra Stanton, Nadia Vazirani, and Joey Wölffer as the Steering Committee.

Tickets to the Summer Family Party start at $75 for Members.

Parrish Art Museum is located at 279 Montauk Highway in Water Mil. For more information, visit parrishart.org.

  • Traffic in the Hamptons is Time Sensitive

Traffic in the Hamptons is time sensitive. Going east from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and west from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. has become quite an ordeal. The initial expansion of “Highway 39” back around 2006-2007, in which the two-lane road was expanded to four and in some places six lanes, no longer is alleviating the traffic flow.

  • Sixty/Something: Solid Gold Rent

My first full-time year in the Hamptons started as a weekend and lasted a decade. I paid rent to a host of folks thinking I’d be moving back to NYC. Somehow the east end helped me transition to a very happily remarried east end guy.

This tale all started with me, a divorced dad having a fateful ride to Joe Shaw’s home as a favor to pick up a deposit on his sailboat. That day ended with me buying his sailboat. It was an on the spot spur of the moment epiphany moment. I knew nothing about sailboats or east end bays.

  • Bideawee Animal Rescue: “Stay Awhile”

It’s been more than two years since the start of the pandemic where there was a significant increase in animal adoptions, known as the “pandemic puppy craze.” Now, animal shelters across the country have been experiencing a lull in adoptions.

Bideawee is one of the country’s oldest and most respected animal welfare and pet adoption organizations. They have locations in New York City, Wantagh, and Westhampton, and they are encouraging the community to consider bringing a deserving and lovable pet into their home. @bideawee
