David Betts, the Republican and Conservative candidate for Superintendent of Highways in Southampton held a fundraiser at Tide Runners Restaurant in Hampton Bays on Tuesday, July 16. In attendance were many of Betts’ friends and family including his wife Charlene Kagel, sons Eliot and Oliver, daughter Desiree along with her husband Patrick Kelly.
A graduate of Southampton High School in 1972, he continued his studies obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree as well as recently completing his course studies at LIU in Homeland Security management. Betts has been a life long resident of Southampton and has been in public service for over 30 years. During his professional career, Betts has received accolades for his administrative abilities. Along with his public services, he also spends his time volunteering with organizations such as the Adventure Sail youth charity.
Dave’s philosophy is simple; get the job done as quickly as possible. He is known for his quick response to anyone who calls the office, whether it be returning a call or resolving the issue at hand. Always working within the budget code, enforcement has been able to become more efficient and effective over the past few years, to which Betts attributes, in part, to the team atmosphere in the unit.
