It’s okay to admit you’re not a seasoned angler (that is, someone who seriously fishes), but if you’re ready to get your feet wet, Knowledge Friday is back at THE CHURCH in Sag Harbor on April 5th at 6pm. This Knowledge Friday is a visual journey into the art of fly fishing. our captivating East End waters, and an awesome opportunity to get to know the Hamptons community better.
In a world where anglers are maligned for telling tall tales (“You shoulda seen it, the fish was so big!”), Tim Regan and Bechard don’t need to embellish the magnitude of their maritime experiences – they have the videos to prove it.
Knowledge Friday, April 5th, at the CHURCH in Sag Harbor is a deep dive into the aquatic world with two of the most qualified speakers you can find. If you’re a member, tickets are FREE with an RSVP; $10 for non-members.
If you’ve ever wondered what a “waterman” looks like, well, that’s literally Tim Regan’s job! Tim is as Bonack as it gets. The Hamptons are lucky to have him, not just because of the unmatched aerial photography he’s mastered, because he’s as friendly as they come, and that’s not even to mention his dogs, who command as much local love as Tim.
I have interviewed Tim before, and trust me, he knows his stuff. But, even as a writer, I’ll admit, Tim’s photographs are worth way more than 1,000 words. In fact, his aerial drone photography will literally take your breath away. If you can’t make it on Friday, follow his Instagram @SouthForkSalt or check him out in On the Water Magazine.
Steve Bechard is an accomplished angler, especially “on the fly rod” (shoutout to my college roommate Harry who taught me that phrase), having competed multiple times on ESPN’s Great Outdoor Games. Beyond competition, Steve defies the stereotype that anglers don’t want to share their secrets. He is a great speaker, guide, and teacher and also the co-founder/president of Rise Fishing Company which is a great resource for all levels of people who fish.
The Church co-founder April Gornik said of this pair of anglers, “They have the right stuff to show our community a view of the waters that surround us with formidable experience, great storytelling, and some of the most amazing photography and videos you’ve ever seen!”
The CHURCH in Sag Harbor is one of my favorite cultural institutions in the Hamptons. They partner with some of the most fascinating speakers from around the nation and world—but also cast down their buckets where they are—here in the Hamptons. Knowledge Friday happens on the first Friday of every month and aims to spotlight some of the Hamptons’ most notable locals in many different areas.
