On Saturday, November 8th, the East Hampton Library concluded its Tom Twomey Series with a conversation with author Lance Richardson and his book Biography as Pilgrimage: On the Trail of Peter Mathiessen. Richardson’s 8-year project included retracing Peter’s 200-mile trek in the Himalayas. The event was co-sponsored by The Peter Matthiessen Center.
So when I stopped by Round Swamp Farm and grabbed the steak lettuce wraps in an effort to eat healthier, my expectations were somewhere between, “This will be fine,” and, “I guess I should just eat a salad.”
Karen Testa, the Executive Director/President of “Turtle Rescue of the Hamptons,” is excited about holding the first-ever “Summer Gala, in support of its rescue and rehabilitation programs,” on July 18th. The outdoor event will be held at Landcraft Garden from 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm. There will be live entertainment by George Barry, with dancing, and a silent auction. The dress code is casual summer. Alex Calamia, News12 Meteorologist, will serve as the host and Emcee.
If you are anywhere on the East End, make sure you get to the Bay Street Theater for “Cagney The Musical,” which runs through July 26th. This show is tremendously entertaining on every level. It features superb acting, singing, and dancing, and a heart that had the opening-night audience standing, cheering, and applauding triumphantly by the final curtain. Produced by Bay Street in association with Riki Kane Larimer and directed by Bay Street Theater’s Associate Artistic Director Will Pomerantz, “Cagney The Musical” brings the story and career of James Cagney, from his early beginnings in vaudeville to his rise as a huge Hollywood star.
