I began following Cole Brauer on Instagram thanks to Darius Nariazzano from Saunders & Associates, who knew of my interest in sailing. It’s unbelievable what she has just accomplished. Thanks to Elon Musk’s Starlink, Cole has been transmitting her journey around the world in a sailboat to the masses, all via social media and with some absolutely thrilling footage. On March 7th, Cole completed the journey around the world, docking in Coruna, Spain to the cheers of her fans, friends, and family. The journey around the world via sailboat took her exactly 130 days.
The boat she sailed on is named “First Light” and is a Class40 sailboat, designed for speed and coastal racing. Although the boat is expensive, it’s also minimalistic, with the cabin being essentially an empty shell where Cole rested when she wasn’t navigating the sailboat.
The journey was riddled with adventure, including stunning moments, many of which were caught on camera, in horrendously rough ocean seas. One video shows Cole being propelled into the air and hitting her entire body at the top of the cabin of the vessel.
Even things like eating were minimalistic to save weight and were entirely for nutrition. Cole used a jet boil to make hot water and rehydrated dried meals, with her favorite brand being PackItGourmet. Cole’s energy and passion for sailing, and her happiness, flow through her Instagram to the viewer, immediately putting a smile on your face when you watch her throughout her journey.
