Join us for a conversation with Elizabeth Neel, a NY and Springs-based artist whose works are in the permanent collections of the Hammer Museum, Los Angeles and the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Neel will discuss her painting practice, interests, and influences with Evanly Schindler, Founder and Artistic Director of BlackBook Art Gallery. Their conversation will explore how the sociopolitical and technological realities of the moment inform contemporary abstract art, creating potential commonalities and ruptures with Abstract Expressionist painters of The Lost Generation.
The talk is presented as a part of The Lost Generation: Then & Now, BlackBook’s summer exhibition tracing the legacy of Abstract Expressionism and its ongoing influence on contemporary abstraction. The exhibition is on view at BlackBook Art Gallery through September 30th.
BlackBook Art Gallery is open daily, 11 am – 7 pm
