Hamptons JazzFest presents the Conrad Herwig Quintet — Latin Side of Miles & Coltrane: 100th Anniversary Celebration at the Montauk Playhouse Cultural Center. Trombonist Conrad Herwig brings his quintet to the East End for a landmark performance celebrating the centennial birthdays of Miles Davis and John Coltrane, reimagining their iconic music through the rhythms and energy of Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz.
Conrad Herwig is a Grammy-nominated trombonist, composer, arranger, and educator known for his work in both straight-ahead jazz and Afro-Latin jazz. Over the course of his career he has performed and recorded with artists including Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Paquito D’Rivera, Joe Henderson, Tom Harrell, and Clark Terry.
Herwig’s internationally recognized ‘Latin Side’ recordings reinterpret the music of major jazz artists through Afro-Caribbean and Latin jazz arrangements. His ‘Latin Side of Miles & Coltrane’ project explores the music associated with Miles Davis and John Coltrane through contemporary Latin jazz rhythms, improvisation, and ensemble performance.
