James Jones, the author of the huge bestseller FROM HERE TO ETERNITY (and the award winning film), was the image of the hard drinking, two fisted chronicler of war and combat. But the body of his other work, as well as his friendships with fellow East End writers, make for a surprising and fascinating life story. The talk will examine his fiction and his complicated relationships. Jones, a long-time resident of Bridgehampton and Southampton, a regular at Bobby Vann’s and mentor to many important writers, was a larger than life force in American Post War literature.

Keith Reddin (Playwright) is a resident of East Hampton, with a decades long connection with the East End arts scene. His plays include Life and LimbRum and CokeBig TimeNebraskaLife During Wartime, Brutality of FactAlmost BlueAll the Rage, But Not For Me, Frame 312Human ErrorThe Missionary PositionAcquainted with the Night, Pierre. Adaptations include Black SnowThe Imaginary InvalidHeaven’s My Destination, the one acts of Strindberg and Rear Window. His work has been produced at Manhattan Theater Club, Playwrights Horizons, Atlantic Theater Company, New York Shakespeare Festival,  Goodman Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Alley Theater, Alliance Theater, American Repertory Theater, Yale Repertory Theatre and Berkeley Repertory Theatre, as well as in London, Berlin, and Tel Aviv. He has also written for film and television, as well as being a professor of playwriting at  Columbia University, New York University and the New School. Mr. Reddin has a deep love of contemporary American literature.

After spending her childhood in the Hamptons, she still resides most of the year Out East today, where the quieter moments continue to shape her life. These days, she’s launching a clean haircare brand inspired by real conversations with women in her audience, and starring in and executive-producing a new TV series. Through it all, Shields is embracing reinvention with the same spark that first made her a household name.

Stuart Weitzman Just Opened the Chicest Little Shop in the Hamptons

If you blinked while driving down Main Street in East Hampton this week, you might have missed it. Tucked behind a white-shingled cottage draped in ivy at The Maidstone Hotel, Stuart Weitzman quietly opened its first-ever Hamptons summer shopping installation, and it is exactly the kind of discovery that makes a summer out here feel special.

Hamptons Summer 2026 Starts at the Surf Lodge

There are a few places in the Hamptons where you can feel the entire summer happening at once. But, standing on the deck at the Surf Lodge, sunlight and bass bouncing across the waters of Fort Pond in Montauk, the solstice may need to be reconsidered.
