The Southampton Ice Rink is a true gem, especially for families with kids. Conveniently located off County Road 39 in Southampton, it transitions from a popular spot for golf and mini-golf in the summer to a magical ice hockey rink in the winter—a must-visit for parents with hockey-loving kids or anyone seeking joy, amusement, and a bit of exercise through a free skate session.

Let’s talk about the cost—it’s incredibly reasonable. For barely $20, you can enjoy an unlimited free skate session without the hassle of making reservations or downloading apps. Don’t have your own skates? No problem, you can rent them for just $5. Yes, you read that right—$5. For both of us, I paid about $45, which, in today’s world, feels like a gift compared to the expenses of other activities. It’s a place that doesn’t stress you out about money the moment you walk in; it genuinely caters to everyone.

My three-year-old daughter, Sophia, full of energy, was thrilled to be there. Her first time on ice skates, she was initially nervous, but once I stepped on the ice with her, the experience was amazing. The crisp, cold air hitting your face is invigorating, akin to that feeling when it snows, but available on demand at the rink. After our skating adventure, we made our way back to the car, with Sophia starting to nod off in her seat. But I wasn’t about to let her miss out on the next part of our day—a trip to Tate’s Bake Shop for some much-needed hot chocolate.
