On Saturday, September 10th, Chef Colin Ambrose, Jessica Ambrose and Estia’s Little Kitchen will host “Gala in the Garden” at Estia’s Little Kitchen in Sag Harbor.
“‘Gala in the Garden’ is a celebration conceived by Chef Colin Ambrose to give back to the community as well as honor his dear friend, the late Chef Gerry Hayden, and their mutual passion for Slow Food,” explained Darlene Salatto Rose of Slow Food East End. “This fundraising event will benefit Slow Food East End, Project Most and ALS Ride for Life, which provided Chef Hayden with care and support during his courageous battle against ALS.” Chef Ambrose and Chef Hayden had a mutual admiration of Slow Food, so much so that the movement even influenced Chef Hayden’s decision to open the North Fork Table & Inn in 2006.
At 6 p.m., guests will be welcomed to Estia’s idyllic garden where they will enjoy music, delightful hors d’oeuvres, and local wine and craft beer. A sit down dinner will follow. Chef Ambrose – who will helm the kitchen alongside Chef Paul Del Favero of Harbor Market & Kitchen – will prepare the multi-course meal that highlights local ingredients. This year’s “Gala in the Garden” will commemorate Ted Conklin, Mary and Tom Morgan, and Kate Plumb – Slow Food East End’s founders – who established the movement back in 2004.
“This very special evening will feature a community of non-profits working together,” shared Susan Gentile Hackett of Project Most. “The food and wine will be exquisite.”
Additionally, the evening will feature a limited edition wine auction that was curated by Michael Cinque of Amagansett Wine & Spirits and Chef Ambrose. Items up for purchase will include one-of-a-kind bottles that were signed by celebrity chefs as well as wines produced by prestigious Long Island winemakers.
Admission to “Gala in the Garden” is $350 per person and tickets must be purchased in advance.
