For Wölffer Estate Vineyard’s latest launch, the acclaimed sustainable Sagaponack-based winery turned to ecologically responsible herbal wellness company Mab & Stoke to partner on a refreshing cider infused with herbal extracts. No. 139 Botanical Cider exclusively features locally grown apples handpicked in New York State, complimented by a herbaceous blend of ginger, lemon balm, elderberry, pomegranate, dandelion root, and turmeric.

No. 139 Botanical Cider made its official debut on Friday, January 8 and we caught up with Wölffer Estate Vineyard Co-Owner Joey Wölffer, Christina Mace-Turner, Founder and CEO of Mab & Stoke, and the Wölffer Estate Vineyard team to learn more about the exciting collaboration.

Tell us about No. 139 Botanical Cider.

WEVT: For the New Year, Wölffer Estate Vineyard brings a holistic approach to their newest product – No. 139 Botanical Cider. The beloved classical cider recipe infused with herbal extracts curated and blended by Mab & Stoke is a perfect balance between nature and its delicate flavors. The newly developed cider is a unique experience to indulge in and feel wildly refreshed.

Infusing No. 139 cider with the premium ingredients from Mab & Stoke has helped Wölffer Estate’s team of experts achieve the perfect balance for a herbaceous and fruitful smooth taste to the palate. The herbs mingled in the recipe include ginger, lemon balm, elderberry, pomegranate, dandelion root, and turmeric, creating an earthy rose and orange color tone.

Is this the first time Wölffer and Mab & Stoke have joined forces? How did the collaboration come to be?

JW: Yes, this is the first time we’ve worked together! I’ve wanted to partner with Christina for some time since I’ve personally become a fan of Mab & Stoke’s wellness offerings, so I’m very excited to see this product come to life. I think that the limited release of Botanical Cider is something that our cider clients will find tremendously appealing. The vibrant flavor has become a favorite of mine. It is the perfect integration of two brands and perfect for those who crave bold flavors.

CMT: I’m thrilled to be partnering with Wölffer for Mab & Stoke’s first foray into infused beverages. The iconic vineyard and No. 139 Cider are a staple in the Hamptons and beyond. As a fellow local, female-founded brand, this collaboration was a natural fit. At Mab & Stoke, we want everyone to feel wildly alive by creating herb-based products that can seamlessly be integrated in everyday life. The 139 Cider infused by Mab & Stoke is the revolutionary way to enjoy what you love with an herbaceous boost, and I’m stoked for everyone to try one.

How does No. 139 Botanical Cider differ from other Wölffer ciders?

JW: This is the first time we’ve infused our classic cider with herbal extracts. This new cider is a unique experience for drinkers to indulge and feel wildly refreshed inside and out.

Where will it be available?

WEVT: Enjoy on its own for an afternoon or pre-dinner aperitif chilled with ice or a splash of Wölffer Pink Gin! Or serve with guacamole, a cheese platter, grilled shrimp, tapas, bruschetta, barbecue ribs, or crispy honey garlic chicken wings.

Any plans to team up on other collaborations?

JW: We are excited for 2021 and are constantly brainstorming new ways to collaborate with different brands and continue our existing partnerships, it’s our way of keeping things at Wölffer exciting and relevant. We can’t wait to share more!

What other new launches can we expect?

JW: 2021 will be an exciting year for Wölffer! Expanding on a few of our wine portfolios, we’ll be making announcements later this year that you’ll want to stay tuned for!

  • Traffic in the Hamptons is Time Sensitive

Traffic in the Hamptons is time sensitive. Going east from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and west from 4 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. has become quite an ordeal. The initial expansion of “Highway 39” back around 2006-2007, in which the two-lane road was expanded to four and in some places six lanes, no longer is alleviating the traffic flow.

  • Sixty/Something: Solid Gold Rent

My first full-time year in the Hamptons started as a weekend and lasted a decade. I paid rent to a host of folks thinking I’d be moving back to NYC. Somehow the east end helped me transition to a very happily remarried east end guy.

This tale all started with me, a divorced dad having a fateful ride to Joe Shaw’s home as a favor to pick up a deposit on his sailboat. That day ended with me buying his sailboat. It was an on the spot spur of the moment epiphany moment. I knew nothing about sailboats or east end bays.

  • Bideawee Animal Rescue: “Stay Awhile”

It’s been more than two years since the start of the pandemic where there was a significant increase in animal adoptions, known as the “pandemic puppy craze.” Now, animal shelters across the country have been experiencing a lull in adoptions.

Bideawee is one of the country’s oldest and most respected animal welfare and pet adoption organizations. They have locations in New York City, Wantagh, and Westhampton, and they are encouraging the community to consider bringing a deserving and lovable pet into their home. @bideawee
