Hamptons BioMed: Innovative Wellness in the Hamptons

Hamptons BioMed founding partners Jessica Arden and Tapp Francke

Hamptons BioMed has officially rebranded and is open to the community, continuing to pioneer the best in health and wellness.

Hamptons BioMed is a joint venture and evolution of STANDwellness and the Morrison Center. They have relocated to their new and improved space at 223 Hampton Road in Southampton, open 7 days a week.

Founding partner, Tapp Francke, delved deep into the mission of Hamptons BioMed, how she got her start in the wellness space, and how they are successful at providing the most innovative, cutting-edge wellness technologies.

Read about her story and learn about the services offered at Hamptons BioMed.

What is Hamptons BioMed all about and the mission behind it?

TF: The mission behind Hamptons BioMed is to provide the most cutting-edge individualized care and wellness technology to our community. We use the most science-driven tools that we source globally, many of which are in the U.S. for the first time at Hamptons BioMed.

We wanted to create a one-stop shop where people can purchase supplements, do IV therapy, peptides, exosomes, optimize their nutrition, and use everything from the Cold Atmospheric Plasma Human Regenerator bed to our medical grade hyperbaric chamber, to getting rid of unwanted gut pathogens with the Firefly, to Reiki to help heal deeper emotional scars. It’s a completely regenerative experience.

We are a client-centered establishment. Our clients and our client outcomes are the most important thing! Whether it’s for recovery from an infection, surgery, other dysfunction, or whether you’re just looking to feel your best, we work with you to achieve your goals.

When was the business founded and why? How has it evolved since the beginning?

TF: Hamptons BioMed is a combination of 20+ years of experience in the field of integrative medicine from our Medical Director Dr. Jeffery Morrison and 10+ years in functional nutrition and cellular optimization tools from STANDwellness. We brought them together in the form of a Biomedical Longevity center. STANDwellness and The Morrison Center have been working in tandem for 6 years—Hamptons BioMed makes the union official!

What services are most popular with customers and what do they say about them?

TF: Our Human Regenerator Bed has been a huge crowd pleaser. People feel more energized, have less pain, sleep better, have more clarity, and are in a better mood when they use it. Its function is to reduce oxidative stress in the body. Oxidative stress is what ages us and what makes us sick, so reducing that has a profound effect!

Another major draw is our NeoGen facial rejuvenation. This is the first time we have delved into the beauty space, but we believe that looking good on the outside is a big part of feeling good on the inside. We have been distressed by traditional beauty anti-aging techniques that are toxic to the body and wanted to bring into our space a completely non-toxic alternative. People look 10 years younger!

Do you have a personal favorite service or treatment you offer?

TF: I have a special love for Firefly as it helped me get rid of the last vestiges of Lyme and Epstein Barr. It’s such a powerful tool for removing unwanted pathogens like bacteria, fungi, parasites, and viruses from our bodies. We don’t realize how burdened our immune systems are. Additionally, it helped my son, and a number of other clients recover from Alpha Gal, which can be tricky and is often long-term. Firefly helped me personally turn a corner in my own wellness journey that I am extremely grateful for.

Can you tell us about your background in the wellness space? How did you first get involved in the space and did you always know this was what you wanted to pursue?

TF: Nutrition is my second career. I used to be an artist! I found my way here getting sick myself 20+ years ago. I was so frustrated by the lack of information and help in the traditional medical model for chronic Lyme disease that it sent me down a rabbit hole. I came to a place of understanding that it’s not necessarily about the infection as much as it is about the surrounding terrain that allows the infection to thrive. Of course we need to address the infections, but concurrently you need to work on gut health, reducing stress, optimizing blood sugar, sleep, and providing your body with nourishment. I ended up going back to school and getting my master’s degree in clinical nutrition and human health. I have since pursued additional certifications in Functional Cancer Care, Epigenetics, and Lyme recovery.

Can you tell us about the team and founders of Hamptons BioMed?

TF: The partnership is between STANDwellness and the Morrison Center. Our medical director is Dr. Jeffery Morrison who has been practicing integrative medicine at The Morrison Center for 20+ years. We are so lucky to have him. I think he is the smartest, most open-minded compassionate doctor I have ever met. We’re always learning!

My other partner is Jess Arden who is a Clinical Light Therapist. She is the person who sources all of our amazing longevity tools. If anyone wants to learn about longevity technologies and therapies, Jess is the person to ask. She is so well educated on this topic it blows my mind.

I am a Clinical Nutritionist. I opened up STANDwellness around 12 years ago. I work with people to optimize their diets and supplement protocols, reduce inflammation, and optimize their gut health. My job is to correct for deficiencies, which often are the root cause of disorders like fatigue, anxiety, and insomnia, and I work with people on gut health to reduce bloating and regulate their bowels. I love my job because I get to help people feel better.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about health and wellness?

TF: That everyone is different. No two wellness journeys are the same. That’s why we work with people individually to sculpt a plan that works best for their unique body. Just because a certain supplement or technology works for one person does not mean it works for everyone. The same goes for diet. I see it all the time. People follow certain diets like carnivore or vegetarian that do not work with their bodies.

I think the supplement space is really crowded right now, which creates so much noise. I find people are spending all this money on supplements that they think are benefitting them that are actually either just expensive pee or potentially doing them harm.

Everyone who is taking supplements should be consulting with a professional in the field to ensure that they are consuming the correct diet and taking the right supplements for them.

What’s your top nutrition advice?

TF: My top advice is to focus on food quality. Sourcing your food means as much, if not more, than food choice. The difference between a regeneratively raised beef and conventionally raised makes a huge difference in micronutrient content.

I like people sourcing their food from local farms as much as possible. We are so lucky out here in the Hamptons with the farms. Buying directly from the farmer means higher nutrient density as it is picked fresh, reduces the carbon footprint because it is not traveling, and allows the farmer to benefit from direct sales. I am a huge fan of CSAs as it gives the farmer known income to allow them to continue doing this incredible service. I make a point to go the The Green Thumb, Mecox Bay Dairy, Sang Lee, 8 Hands Farm, Marilee’s Farmstand, and Amber Waves to ensure that my food is fresh, has minimal pesticides, and has the maximum nutrition density. I am also a big fan of places like Farm & Forage in Southampton, Provisions in Sag Harbor, and Love Eats in Amagansett for sourcing the highest quality food.

My top lunch spot is Farm & Forage for sure! All of their prepared food is organic and seed oil free. Love them.

Has there been one therapy or approach you have integrated into your own life that has made a huge difference?

TF: Consistency is key. Doing anything one time won’t move the needle. Doing one sit-up or eating one piece of broccoli will not change your life. But doing things consistently is where real change takes place.

It’s also looking at it from a whole-body approach. Eating well, focusing on sleep, being consistent with your supplements, getting outside in the sunshine, daily movement, and these longevity technologies work together as a package to help people feel their very best.

Are you introducing any new services or treatments in 2025 that you’re excited to share?

TF: I am most excited about the medical grade hyperbaric chamber we are integrating into our space at the end of June. Hyperbaric is an exciting therapy for increasing oxygen levels in the body, which leads to faster healing times, increased energy, and in recent studies shows that it can increase telomere length, which is a measurement of health-span. It has twice the amount of oxygen than standard hyperbaric and leads the field in safety and precision. It’s the only hyperbaric with preprogrammed protocols for different conditions. It’s important that it is medical grade because the higher pressure helps for better oxygen penetration of the cells. Up to 1500% more oxygen in your body, 95% improved cognition, 60% improved immune system functioning, and 50% faster recovery time. Needless to say, I cannot wait to offer this to our community!

What’s your favorite thing about being located in the Hamptons?

TF: I love this community. I have lived here all my life. I love the beaches and the farm fields and the pace of life. I love walking into the farmstands and have the amazing abundance of fresh food available to us. Everyone is so friendly. There is also nothing quite like watching the sunset from the beach! I love that I am able to raise my children here who embrace all the things that this area has to offer from surfing, to fishing, to pond skating. I love this area and this community.

Do you have a favorite pastime in the Hamptons?

TF: My favorite thing is to go to the various farmstands and pick up fresh food. That feels so good to me. Knowing that the food is grown locally, has minimal to no pesticide exposure, and was able to ripen while still in the ground or on the vine. Nutritionally speaking, fresh local food is unparalleled.

What’s unique about serving the East End customers?

TF: I find they are generally more educated in the field of wellness. They have a level of discernment which I appreciate. They can tell a quality product from a low-quality one. They also embrace the “I would rather pay the farmer than the doctor” mentality, which means that they value their wellness and are willing to spend time improving it.

I’m writing this on a computer I got from GeekHampton, and geewhiz, it rocks. If you live in the Hamptons, you know how important it is to have real, trusted local businesses. That brand activation won’t help if my computer won’t charge; an interior decorator can’t help unbrick your vintage Mac. So, having GeekHampton in the community since 1999 is an understated but undeniably essential luxury.

  • Any reason to visit @montaukyachtclub is a good one, especially when there’s great art from @joehenrybaker, @stgermaindrinks cocktails, and a “killa” pair of new shades from @akila.la.

The beachfront ballroom recently hosted an exhibition of Joe Henry Baker’s large-scale abstract works: muted, tactile, and calming without disappearing into the room. Hot take: replace the enormous black rectangle above your fireplace—sometimes called a TV—with one of his pieces. The evening also marked the start of AKILA Eyewear’s summer pop-up, with handmade, adventure-ready frames that are polished enough for the Hamptons but practical enough to enjoy wearing.

Life—and art—just looks better through a pair of AKILA sunglasses.

  • What started as a personal idea rooted in love and connection has evolved into a refined jewelry brand that blends meaning with timeless design. Founded by Melanie Bronfman, Stella James was created to offer something more than traditional fine jewelry with pieces that feel personal and meaningful while maintaining an elevated aesthetic meant to be worn every day.

Inspired by both New York’s sophistication and the relaxed elegance of the Hamptons, the brand balances strength and softness. Signature diamond letter pieces have become a defining element of the collection, designed to represent identity, memory, and the people we carry with us.

As Stella James continues to grow, Melanie remains focused on craftsmanship, storytelling, and creating pieces that feel both modern and lasting. She spoke more about the inspiration behind the brand, her design philosophy, and how Stella James fits seamlessly into everyday style from city life to summer days out East.

Can you share the story behind Stella James, when you launched, and what inspired you to create the brand?

MB: Stella James was born from a deeply personal place. I wanted to create something that allowed me to carry a symbol of the people I love most with me, every day. What began as a personal idea designing a meaningful piece tied to my children evolved into a brand rooted in emotion, craftsmanship, and timeless design. We launched with the intention of creating jewelry that doesn’t just look beautiful, but feels significant.

  • There are restaurants that simply serve a meal, and then there are restaurants that create an unbelievable memory and experience. Lulu Kitchen & Bar in Sag Harbor is the latter. I recently stopped in for lunch with my co-worker, Val, and from the moment we walked through the door, it was clear why this has become one of the Hamptons’ most celebrated dining destinations.

One of Lulu’s defining features is its commitment to wood-fired cooking. Nearly everything is prepared over a live fire using actual wooden logs, giving the food a distinctive depth of flavor that is difficult to replicate. You can actually see the flames working behind the scenes, adding to the experience.

Lulu also features a fantastic bar with an impressive selection of local craft beers alongside outstanding international offerings, making it just as appealing for an afternoon drink as it is for a full meal.
